Madraykin crafts haunting folk-noir anthems that turn inner darkness into soaring, orchestral rock.

Bio:

Madraykin is the creative folk-noir and cinematic rock alter ego of Gloucestershire-based singer-songwriter and musician Madeleine Harwood. Known for blending a cappella traditions with sweeping orchestral and dark torchlight textures, her music explores themes of public facades, emotional depth, and mental health struggles. Before establishing her moniker, Harwood was a veteran of the folk circuit, performing traditional unaccompanied singing. She independently released her debut a cappella folk album, Darkest Part, in 2017. Driven by a desire to branch into richer, full-band arrangements, she adopted the moniker Madraykin in 2020 to mark a new sonic chapter. A turning point in her songwriting came in 2019 during a workshop in Gloucester, where she formed a creative partnership with celebrated Ivor Novello-nominated songwriter Boo Hewerdine. Together, they began co-writing material recorded at Saltwell Studio that added heavy reverb guitars, rootsy rock beats, and jazzy string layers to her powerhouse vocals.
